Frequently Asked Questions
Is the product safe?
The product is prepared using Tergosol, a non-toxic, biodegradable, environmentally compliant, “green” solvent which fully evaporates after application. Upon drying, the treatment is safe for pets and their owners. The dried product is made of materials that are present in nature and can be found in food products such as vitamins and powdered drinks, as well as in cosmetics, toothpaste, and sunscreen. We have just formulated it in a way so that the soiled litter no longer sticks to the box.
Will this work with my type of litter?
Litter Care works well with clumping and non-clumping clay based litters and some wood chip based litters.
How long does it take to dry?
We recommend a minimum of 5 minutes at room temperature for drying. The color will initially appear white and as it dries the color will become much lighter.
How much will I need per litter box?
The first treatment should provide uniform, completely wet coverage. For a standard 12” X 18” litter box this requires about 0.5 oz. After the initial treatment you can re-apply a lighter coating. The 7 oz. bottle should last approximately 20 changes of your litter. Of course, if your cats love to dig and scratch you might need a little more during each change.
How long does the treatment last?
Since it is easy to apply and dries quickly we recommend re-applying after each complete change of litter. If you are using a sifting litter box we recommend re-applying after each removal of the waste. The cats can scratch the bottom of the box and partially remove the treatment.
Does the treatment permanently change my litter box?
No, the treatment can result in a slight white color that is more easily seen on darker color litter boxes and the treatment can be easily removed if you desire.
How can I remove the treatment?
The treatment can be easily removed from the litter box using a sponge with soap and water.
